New research shows that lifelong fruit, vegetable and low-fat eating habitsare a major factor in preventing heart disease .

According to research conducted on health personnel , 84,000 women aged 34-59 and 42,000 men aged 40-75, the risk of heart disease decreased by 4 percent when one serving of fruit or vegetable was added to the diet a day. In the results of the study, spinach, broccoli, orange and grapefruit provide maximum protection against heart diseases.

Again, according to the results of the research, the people consuming the most vegetables and fruits are older and have a healthier lifestyle and fewer smokers. Increased vegetable and fruit consumption can also help prevent heart attacks that can be experienced in Type 2 diabetes.

Minerals, vitamins, folic acid, potassium and antioxidants in these fruits and vegetables all reduce the risk of heart disease. A decrease in bad cholesterol levels can also be observed in people fed this way.


 

Experts advise people to choose a diet with less fat and less meat, consuming a lot of fruits, vegetables and dry legumes, so that balanced and correct nutrition throughout life can be effective in preventing many diseases as well as heart diseases.
